Planning for Japn 2012: Kyoto 5D/4N Itinerary

Day 0: Arrive Kyoto approximately 6:00pm, and check-in to hotel
- Eat! Head to Gion district to have dinner and soak up the atmosphere of imperial Japan
- From Kyoto JR Station, take bus 100, 206 or 206 and get off at Gion Bus Stop (220 Yen)
- Have dinner at Gion area

Day 1:
- Start at Nishi-Honganji Temple (Free admission, 500yen for Shoseien Garden)
- Higashi-Honganji Temple (Free admission)
- Sanjusangendo (See 1001 statues of Kannon. 600yen)
- Kiyomizu Temple (300yen. 400yen from 6.30pm-9.30pm)
- Kodaiji (Beautiful zen garden & bamboo grove, 600yen)
- Walk down fr Kiyomizu Temple along Kiyomizu-zaka for cool souvenirs.
- Yasaka Shrine
- Then head west to Gion district

Day 2:
- Subway to Higashiyama
- Walk to Shoren-in Temple (500yen)
- Walk up the road to the huge gates leading into Chion-in Temple
- Chion-In Temple (Free, Gardens: 500yen)
- Head opposite to Maruyama Park for Sakura & Lunch
Choose:
a) Walk all the way up to Ginkakuji Temple, or
b) Head back to Kyoto Station for train to Arashiyama, famous spot for cherry blossoms and bamboo groves (great night photos). Train to Saga-arashiyama station takes 15mins and costs 230yen.

Day 3:
- Take bus 101/205 from Kyoto Station to the Golden Pavilion Kinkakuji (40mins, 220yen). Entrance: 400yen.
- Wander around the Golden Pavilion area, with many small temples to visit.


Day 4: Depart for Nara
