Review: Metadee Resort Phuket

Date of stay: 3-6 Aug 2012

Metadee Resort in a single word - Phenomenal.

There are 3 obvious room choices: Deluxe Pool View, Deluxe Pool Access and Pool Villas. The first 2 are basically double-storey blocks, where the ground floor gets direct access to the pool. The contents of both rooms are identical. The Pool Villas however, are located across from the Deluxe rooms, and is on a building of its own. To get to your rooms, the hotel uses golf buggies to send you to your rooms, or you may choose to take a nice stroll through their gardens.

Notice the room number, door, and ceiling are all made from wood

The pool snakes its way to all rooms, and finally making its way to the main pool fronting the lobby, restaurant and fitness centre. The best part about this resort is absolutely the pool! It never closes, and the pool is never cold! It is maintained at 33°C even at night. The depth is only 120cm at the rooms area, and 160cm near the lobby area. At night, the main pool has hundreds of LED green lights dotting the floor of the pool. When you swim underwater, it feels like a sea of stars. So do yourself a favour and get a Pool Access room, so you can swim to your heart's content.

There are jacuzzi jets outside every Pool Villas, which you can turn on on your own

Those without Pool Access can still sun bathe at the common areas between blocks

Metadee is an eco-green resort. Rooms are made almost purely out of natural products, aside from fittings like the power socket, door locks, light switches, etc. The ceiling and balcony is surprisingly wood-based, even the balcony bars are made from wood. Clothes hangers are uniquely designed with bamboo. The eco-green concept is very creatively and efficiently used in order to heat the pool. Hot air from air conditioners of all rooms are funneled to heat up the pool, where hot water jets are sprayed in. Standing under these hot jets was so therapeutic.
Warm water pool the entire day, even at night

From the lobby to the main Kata Road, there is a 200m walk. You may request for a buggy to send you out, and there is a bus stop at the end of they road with a hotel phone, for you to request a buggy back. Plenty of shops along Kata Road for your meals, shopping and massages. It is a further 15 min walk to Kata Beach.
