Best Seats on AirAsiaX

Whenever I travel on AirAsia X, I have my favourite seats on the plane. The system will automatically assign a seat for you, which you can now see what number it is, before deciding to pay for your preferred seat. Current pricing for Seat Assignation is RM35 per way.

Since I normally travel in two or four, there is a particular row where the plane's width narrows, and instead of a 3-3-3 combination, it becomes 2-3-2. Therefore, the seats shown as numbers 1 and 2 below are my favourite. The choice of 1 or 2, is purely based on where the sun is at the time of flying. The aisle seat of number 1 & 2 have added legroom where you can stretch until the length of the seat in front of you. If this is already booked, then I would choose seat 3 & 4.

I am assigned Seat 14F & 14G. For flights over 6 hrs, I'd pay RM35 to get Seats 45 A/C/H/K for more legroom

hello there! tqvm for the nice info. i'll be flying aax to seoul jan '12. based on your seat suggestion on row 45 and 46, are the other 2-3-2 rows seat (47 until 51) will also have the extra legroom?

Hi Ben,

The plane generally begins to narrow from seat 44 onwards and straightens out at about Seat 49. So 45 is best (45C and 45H specifically so one leg will be able to stretch fully) followed by 46, then 47 and possibly 48. Afterwhich, the 2-seater just gives added privacy.

Any extra leg room for row 44?

Angie said...

Row 44 would only give the aisle passenger (44C & 44H) a little more arm room. Not really any much better than normal seats.

Thank you. I will change my seat as recommended.

Hi, thanks for your information. Last time I'm using Air Asia X I seat in between 10-15 row, but I have another flight with Air Asia X and I'm going to try your best seat recommendation (in my flight to Incheon) ^_^ lets see the difference. And I also try the Upgrade choice from Option Town for my flight back to KL, hope they will approve my application.

Found ur site through google.
It's very useful, flying to Aus soon.
If the flight is not full, can we change our seats ourselves after boarding ? Thanks

Hi Anonymous,
Once the flight have taken off, sure you are free to move to any seat EXCEPT those whose headrest is marked as Hot Seat. If you try to sit at a Hot Seat, the flight attendant will come and ask you to move.

Happy flying!

Hi Angie! Thanks for sharing this best secret seats out. I'll be traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo this November & the flights will take about 7+ to 8+ hours per journey. Once I read about your blog, without any hesitation, I upgraded from our normal seats to the ones that you've mentioned about the extra leg room for to & return flight. God bless us those seats are still available for us during booking. Lol~ Thanks a lot!

Which seat that can see through the windows without having to bend a bit to the front ? Seat 45 or 46?

Angie said...

Hi Noor Asyaari,

Sorry I wouldn't know about the window, did not take notice which one has the better view.

Hi Angie,

Regarding any seat from 44 to 51, how comfortable of that area considering it near to rear engine? Does it very noisy and bumpy whenever there is turbulence? I am concerned of these 2 aspects so that I can have a nice sleep during night flight.
Thanks.
